Chanuka Initiative

Unlocking the potential and inner power of women and girls

The Chanuka Initiative, inspired by the Swahili word "Chanuka," meaning "to be enlightened," is a transformative mentorship program designed to empower women and girls. This initiative fosters an ecosystem of well-informed individuals equipped to Connect, Engage, and Serve their communities and the world.

Our Aim

The Chanuka Initiative seeks to unlock the potential and inner power of women and girls, enabling them to become influential changemakers and leaders who drive meaningful societal transformation.

Our Pillars

  1. Leadership
Leadership forms the foundation of our work, with a focus on advocacy, lobbying, food system transformation, disaster preparedness, governance, policy influencing, and gender and economic empowerment.
  2. Vision
We inspire women and girls to envision a more equitable and inclusive society, where they actively shape the future by breaking barriers and challenging patriarchal traditions.
  3. Values
The initiative instills confidence, effective communication, and meaningful engagement—key drivers for overcoming societal exclusion and creating space for women in leadership and decision-making platforms.

Through the Chanuka Initiative, Winam Grassroots empowers women and girls to lead with purpose, transform their communities, and build a future anchored on resilience, equity, and inclusion.
